Jewelry, Tall Case Clocks, and Fine Art Featured in Spring 2015 Antique and Fine Art Auction

A Lebanon County tall case clock, a diamond & sapphire Deco bracelet, Cristofle Flatware, an Alberto Giacometti print, and paintings by Antonio Pietro Martino and Louis Aston Knight will headline the Spring Antique and Fine Art Auction at Cordier Auctions on May 16 and 17. Among other categories, the sale will feature collectibles, jewelry, silver, Asian & decorative arts, glass & pottery, furniture, fine art, and clocks. The auction will be held in the company’s auction house located at 1500 Paxton Street in Harrisburg, PA. Coins will feature gold including a 1917 McKinley commemorative $1 ($700-800) and a 1904 Liberty Head $20 double eagle ($1,000-1,500). In silver, a Mexican sterling tea set by A. Torres Vega estimated at $1,500-2,000 and a 60 piece mint condition Cristofle Renaissance flatware set ($8,000-12,000) will be offered. In collectibles, more than 100 lots of Hummels of all sizes will be sold, and carousel animals including a Dentzel-style cat ($1,000-2,000). A 14K gold presentation B&O Railroad badge will also be offered with an estimate of $1,000-1,500. Buyers will delight at more than 200 lots of jewelry which will include a 4.26 ctw diamond and sapphire Deco bracelet ($4,000-6,000) as well as numerous Tiffany pieces including Atlas, Schlumberger, and F. Gehry. Other designers will include Roberto Coin, Georg Jensen, and a Giovane 18K diamond and enamel suite ($4,000-6,000). A Rolex watch and Native American silver will also be on the block. The category is rounded out with a pair of 14K South Sea pearl & diamond earrings with an estimate of $4,500-7,500, and a 14K diamond and garnet ring ($2,500-4,000), along with other vintage and modern diamond and gemstone pieces. Offerings in furniture will include a Chippendale style dining suite ($3,000-5,000) and an American Chippendale fall front desk ($1,500-2,000). More than 40 Persian rugs will be offered, ranging from scatter to room size. Among the tall case clocks will be a Federal tall case clock by George Oves (1783-1837) of Lebanon County estimated at $8,000-12,000 and a Herschede 9 tube clock ($4,000-6,000). 150 lots of fine art will feature a trial proof print by Alberto Giacometti (American , 1901-1966) titled “Portrait of Rimbaud” ($4,000-6,000). Also featured will be landscapes including Longwood Gardens by Antonio Pietro Martino (American, 1902-1988) with an estimate of $2,000-4,000, one by Louis Aston Knight ($8,000-10,000), and a winter scene by William Behler (Pennsylvania, 1915-1994) with an estimate of $1,500-3,000. Two KPM hand painted porcelain plaques entitled “Ruth” and “David and Bathsheba” will also be offered ($1,500-3,000 each).
